Are you experiencing ongoing digestive symptoms such as bloating, abdominal discomfort, or changes in bowel habits?
Are you looking to improve your overall nutrition and diet quality, but feel overwhelmed by where to begin?
Many people with conditions such as IBS or IBD find themselves cycling through GP appointments without clear, long-term solutions. You may have been advised to follow the low FODMAP diet but found it confusing, restrictive, or difficult to maintain. Perhaps you’re frustrated by the conflicting nutrition advice found online and on social media.
The Gut Dietitian
As The Gut Dietitian, I provide evidence-based, personalised nutrition support to help you understand your gut, improve symptoms, and build a sustainable, nourishing way of eating — without unnecessary restriction. I also support individuals with complex digestive and medical conditions, including liver and pancreatic disease, upper gastrointestinal disorders, malnutrition, and weight concerns.
If you’re looking for clear guidance, practical strategies, and support grounded in science, you’re in the right place.
About me
My background
Hi, I am Jo,
I am a Band 7 Specialist Clinical Dietitian based in Sheffield, with over a decade of experience working within the NHS. I hold a BSc in Nutrition and Public Health and an MSc in Dietetics, and I specialise in supporting people with complex digestive and gut health concerns.
I have extensive experience working with conditions such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), functional gut disorders, and supporting overall gut health and symptom management.
I’m highly experienced in delivering the low FODMAP diet and LOFFLEX diet, providing personalised, structured guidance to help you manage symptoms effectively while maintaining a balanced, enjoyable diet.
Alongside gut health, I also support clients with:
-
Liver disease
-
Pancreatic conditions
-
Upper gastrointestinal (UGI) disorders
-
Weight management
-
Malnutrition and nutritional rehabilitation
I also recognise how hormonal changes — including perimenopause, menopause, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and endometriosis — can affect digestion and gut symptoms. These fluctuations can make navigating food choices challenging, and I offer tailored support to help manage symptoms during these stages.
My Approach
I take a holistic approach to dietetics, recognising that everyone’s needs are different. I focus on your individual symptoms, food preferences, and lifestyle to ensure any advice is practical, personalised, and tailored to support your own journey towards better health.

Specialist support for digestive health
Ongoing digestive symptoms can take the joy out of food and affect how you feel day to day. I provide personalised, evidence-based nutrition support designed to improve gut comfort, reduce symptoms, and help you feel more at ease around eating again.
I work with a range of digestive concerns, including:
IBS & functional gut disorders
Digestive symptoms such as bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, or constipation can be complex and frustrating. I take a tailored approach, which may include fibre modification, symptom-led food strategies, or structured plans such as the low FODMAP diet — always adapted to suit you.
Reflux & upper digestive symptoms
Reflux and heartburn are often managed with unnecessary restriction, yet symptoms persist. I support you in identifying personal triggers, improving meal patterns, and finding realistic strategies that fit your lifestyle without over-limiting food choices.
Diverticular disease
Living with diverticular disease can feel uncertain, particularly around food choices. I help you understand how diet may influence symptoms and support you in developing a personalised plan aimed at reducing flare-ups and supporting long-term gut health.
Constipation & sluggish digestion
Constipation can affect people at any stage of life and may contribute to bloating, discomfort, and nausea. I assess dietary intake, fluid balance, and lifestyle factors to help support more regular, comfortable digestion.
If you’re experiencing digestive symptoms that aren’t mentioned here, please get in touch. I’m happy to discuss your concerns and explore whether nutritional support may be right for you.
